Before booking an online notarization for a corporate document, confirm:
• The document is eligible for remote online notarization
• The receiving party accepts remote online notarization
• The signer’s name matches the ID and document
• The signer’s title or capacity is correct
• The document has the correct notarial certificate
• Any required board approval, resolution, authorization, or supporting document is already prepared
• Any witnesses are arranged if required
• The document is unsigned before the live session unless instructed otherwise
Business documents often contain capacity language such as “by,” “as,” “on behalf of,” or “for.” Those blanks should generally be completed by the document preparer, attorney, company, lender, or recipient, not by the notary.
