Remote Online Notarization (RON) Disclosure
iRemoteNotary — National remote online notarization engine. Headquartered in Florida. Not a law firm.
Effective January 1, 2026. Read this disclosure before you begin a remote online notarization through iRemoteNotary.
What is RON?
Remote Online Notarization (RON) allows a notary public to perform a notarial act using audio-video communication when the signer and notary are not in the same physical room, where authorized by the notary’s commissioning jurisdiction. A properly performed RON generally produces an electronic notarization with the same essential effect as an in-person notarial act under that jurisdiction’s law—not legal advice about your specific document.
Florida framework
iRemoteNotary is operated from Florida. When your session is performed by a Florida-commissioned notary, the act is conducted under Florida’s statutes and administrative requirements for online notarization in effect at the time of signing. Other states’ notaries follow their own commissioning laws; the platform surfaces the requirements applicable to your booking.
The 5-step RON process on iRemoteNotary
Secure intake & document upload
You submit documents through encrypted channels and confirm which signatures require notarization. You represent that you have authority to sign and that the matter is eligible for remote online notarization under applicable law.
Identity proofing (KBA) & credential analysis
You complete knowledge-based authentication and credential review as required for your session and commissioning state. Failure at this stage ends the process—identity assurance is statutory, not optional.
Live audio-video session with a commissioned notary
You appear before a notary via real-time audio-video technology. The notary confirms your presence, willingness, and understanding of the act being performed. This replaces traditional physical presence where RON is authorized.
Electronic journal, recording & retention
Sessions are documented in an electronic journal and, where required, captured via an audio-video recording with your informed consent. Records are retained according to applicable Florida or other state rules and platform security policies.
Electronic seal, tamper-evident certificate & delivery
The notary applies an electronic signature and seal. You receive a digitally signed package designed to evidence tampering if altered. Retain copies for your records; iRemoteNotary is not responsible for downstream filing or acceptance by third parties.
Consent to recording
Where recording is required or offered for compliance, your continuance into the live session invokes your informed consent to audio-video capture for notarial and evidentiary purposes, subject to applicable law and our retention schedule.
